Some Pretty And Not So Pretty Sights

28 October 2013

Okay, the weekend recap. Where shall I start?

I guess I'll bring you back to five o'clock on Friday.  It was my co-workers last day of work, so the plan of meeting downtown for some drinks had been in the works for a couple of days.  Todd wasn't home Friday night and since he would normally be my driver, I knew I was going to have to drive and not partake in the drink part because I really didn't want to spend over twenty dollars in cabs each way by myself just to go out for an hour or two (it couldn't be a late night because I had to get up early the next morning). I had a super busy day on Friday so all of that, mixed in with being pretty tired from all week, didn't exactly put me in the mood to go out. When I left work Friday evening and the freezing cold air struck me, from the minute I stepped foot in my house I never wanted to leave again.  All I wanted to do was put on my pajamas, get some junk food, and have a super relaxing night by myself. It was so bad that I actually mustered up a story to send to my co-workers as to why I wasn't going to be joining them later. I lazed about and lazed about, and delayed sending that text as long as I could.

Then I remembered a little pact I made with myself.  You see, a while ago I promised myself that I was going to make more of an effort to go out and do things when people asked me. So often I can get lazy in a rut, and let the laziness rut take over, but I always hate it when I happen to give in. I mean, I'm sure we all like having our relaxing nights, but if there's something fun or special or important that I could be doing, well then I want to be doing it. I try to remember that my couch will be waiting for me any other day of the week, and that no matter how tired I am before I go out, I always perk up once I'm out.

So, I automatically jumped up and snapped out of my laziness rut, and went out.  Although I drove around for about twenty minutes trying to find a place to park, and then walked another ten minutes in the freezing cold to meet everyone at the bar, I had a great time and I was soooo glad that I made myself power through and not send that text message.  And even though I didn't take any pictures from Friday night as my proof, I will show you this one I snapped right before I left my house, you know, to help my case. And you can trust that if I'm wearing lipstick and a necklace on a Friday night, I was definitely going out. You would not want to see what I would look like if I wasn't.
You may have seen this same shirt AND necklace from this night.
Remember, it was a last minute decision!
How do you fashion bloggers not recycle shirts?  And can I please have your wardrobe so I don't have to either?
Saturday morning I got up bright and early to drive out home to my parents house (which I still and probably always will call home). As much as I love road tripping it with great company, sometimes I enjoy having that time to myself.  I can crank the music and just let the gazillion thoughts that are rummaging through my head come to life.  I drive these roads a lot (at least every month or two), but for some strange reason, this time I couldn't help but appreciate what a beautiful drive it actually is.  I'm not sure if it was because the trees were a million different colours, or if it was because the ocean was so calm, or if it was the sappy music that I was listening to, but I had one of those over the top happy moments, and before I knew it, I was smiling in the car by myself for no particular reason at all.  It was right then and there that I pulled over to take this picture.

Later that evening, myself, Todd and my mom made our way into our cabin and as soon as we got settled away, we decided to take Charley for a nice long walk.  Nothing makes this momma happier then seeing her girl run free, and Todd knew for the perfect spot to take us, just as the sun was going down.

Although the view was pretty amazing, the walk to get in wasn't the greatest, and we ended up having to tramp through more bog, bushes, and mud puddles.

This doesn't even come close to show how bad the trail actually was.
But no worries, we had no problem handling a little adventure.  What we couldn't handle was what Charley decided to do on the walk back, and that was to roll in crap, not once but twice, and cover herself from head to....paw. Every time she would run next to us, the smell that was coming off of her was unbearable. We all spent the next twenty minutes coming up with ideas as to how we were going to clean her off back at the cabin with no running water or towels. And if there was ever a record for the amount of curse words that one person could utter in such a short amount of time, Todd would have been the title holder, hands down.  After washing her twice in the cabin (using the only thing that we could find; dish detergent) and having no luck, we finally had to leave and drive fifteen minutes to bring her to Todd's parents house so we could properly clean her in their bathtub.  Let's just say we were not entirely impressed.

And that pretty much summed up my weekend, so I guess I'll leave on that disgusting note. I'm sat here now trying to come up with a punishment for Charley, and I've decided that tomorrow morning before I leave for work, instead of her usual five treats, she'll now only be getting one.  That should definitely teach her!!!

Hope everyone else had a non-gross weekend!

And of course I'm linking up with Sami.

  1. OMG I know EXACTLY what you mean! I commit to a lot of things and then when they all come up, I'm so annoyed because I'm tired and just want to stay home. I always have to talk myself into going and then I always have a great time and am glad I went. So I guess that's why I keep committing myself to all these things! And I LOVE LOVE LOVE your outfit!! You look so cute! I've always wondered how fashion bloggers never repeat outfits. I repeat my favorite outfits all the time so there is no way I can take pictures in the same thing every weekend, ha!

  2. Glad you had a good time! I have to talk myself into a lot of things too, I get so crazy busy I just want to rest most days. Some times I just have to say No but most of the time I go. The view of the cliffs is gorgeous!! Puppy shenanigans!! That must have been horrible not having water to clean him off. Seamus rolls in the grass but luckily never in poo. Hope your week gets better than that adventure!

  6. I hear you about getting into a rut and not wanting to leave home. That's why, if I have plans after work, and I have to go home to change first, I have to make sure I don't end up sitting on the couch. If I do, it's almost impossible for me to want to get back up! I'm glad you went and had a great time though!

I hope Charley is all clean now!

  7. If I have plans after work, I cannot (CANNOT!) sit on the couch or I won't go out. The very first thing I do when I get home from work is change into sweatpants and if I do that prior to my plans, my plans won't happen.

So glad you had a great time. Your photos are gorgeous!

  8. I love that you went out on Friday! I probably would have done the opposite and been lazy. I need to make myself do more too. You're an inspiration :P

  9. Those views are incredible! So gorgeous! And I love your outfit for going out! I am literally the same way with being lazy about going out. Sometimes my husband literally has to drag me out to do things because I'm so content being at home...and it's especially hard in the winter when it's getting colder outside! And it's the same thing, the majority of the time I'm so glad I went out!

  10. I'm in awe of that beautiful scenery. I would love to take that drive any day of the week.

I know exactly what you mean about being in a rut and just wanting to stay home. I feel like that more often than not. I have to force myself to do it. I'm trying to do better about that.

I'm glad you had a great weekend! xo
